The Male Room Challenge #131 - Team Colors - Guest Designer MFT Slider Card

Watercolor Altenew Beautiful Day

It is a beautiful day because I got back into my craft room, and I am using the Beautiful Day stamp set by Altenew. My card was inspired by 2 challenges that I am joining.  Virginia at the Altenew January 2020 Inspiration Challenge chose this amazing color combination. Don't you just love it! And the theme at the Flower Challenge inspired me to make a shaped card.  I love that challenges bring out cards that I otherwise likely would not come up with.

Tips:
1. Stamp your images and emboss them with your white embossing powder on your favorite water color paper.
2. Water color your images and then cut them out.  I used Daniel Smith watercolor combination including Quinacridone Lilac, Rose of Ultramarine, Cadmium Orange Hue, Permanent Green Light, Sap Green and Under Sea Green.  I repeated a bit of the purply pink in the orange flowers and the green leaves as well as on its own on some flowers for some continuity in colors through the card.
3. To make this 9 by 4 inch card base I used my lattice background die and did partial die cutting, die cutting it twice, end to end on a 4.25 by 11 inch 110 lb. white cardstock. Then I cut the back of the card which was 9 by 4 3/16, scoring it at 4 inches.  I glued my lattice piece on the back, making sure it dried.
4. Then I folded it and glued on all my pretty watercolored pieces. When I arrange my pieces I try and arrange the flower pieces and leaf pieces so they face different angles/directions.  And I try to make some sort of arc over the card front in the pattern.  I try to make sure the same types of flower or leaf pieces are not straight across from another piece like itself, trying to place it higher or lower, or farther to the left or right than other like pieces. I often use odd number of each type of flower or leaf, but the exception here is the largest flower. To help the design I add some greenery or other colored flowers between the 2 large flowers to break them apart a bit.
5. Finally I shaped the pieces a bit to curve them and add some dimension to the card.

If you can make some time I hope you can join the following challenges:

Colored Cardstock versus Comic Markers with Altenew Rose Flurries 3D Die Set

I made 2 cards with the Altenew Rose Flurries 3D Die Set , one using colored cardstock and one using copic markers to color white cardstock. These cards are inspired by the Altenew November 2019 Inspiration Challenge. For my first card I pulled out all my miscellaneous colored cardstock that matched the inspiration challenge colors.  I was short a couple of colors so I blended some ink onto my darkest color to deepen the color for the last layer to die cut. I die cut all my layers, but this is where I ran into a few problems. I had mixed up wrong colors for some of the layers of the flowers.  (I was curious to try a different method so that prompted the second card.) Once I had re-die cut the missing layers I glued all my pieces together and glued them onto a cream color A2 sized card and stamped my sentiment which is from the Altenew Build a Flower Sakura Blossom  stamp set.     For my second card I use the layering gui...

Just Us Girls Challenge #521 - Word Week - Bow - Guest Designer

I am super thrilled to be a guest designer at  the Just Us Girls Challenge #521 where the word week theme is "bow".  To avoid having to tie a bow I had to pull out an old Whipper Snapper Designs stamp called Birthday Angel to find a bow (or 2). In saying that I may be telling me age, lol, given how old that stamp is.   Please make sure to check out all the wonderful cards the JUGS team made: Carol, Sue , Angie, Vickie, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria, and Cécile . And please drop by the Just Us Girls Challenge #521  and enter your "bow" card!   I look forward to being back at JUGS again next week!  As a teaser, my card will include watercoloring and an Altenew stamp set.    Thank you for stopping by! Just Us Girls Challenge #524 - Photo Week - Guest Designer and Essentials by Ellen Subbing In and Porthole Shadow Box Card

When I saw the inspiration photo for the Just Us Girls Challenge  I knew that Essentials by Ellen Subbing In by Brandi Kinkaid Stamps  and Subbing In by Brandi Kinkaid Dies  and Porthole Dies  were the perfect match! Thank you Ellen for giving me these wonderful presents! And thank you to JUGS for once again having me as a guest designer!   I look forward to seeing how this photo inspires you! Please make sure to check out all the wonderful cards the JUGS team made: Carol, Sue , Angie, Vickie, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria, and Cécile . In case you want to make a similar shadow box card here is what I did (instructions then photo to follow). 1. Cut a piece of Canson Bristol or Neenah Solar White 110 lb. cardstock 4 by 9 1/2 inches. 2. Ink blend your background and add splatters.  Rather than the usual splatter with water I used reinkers for my splatter so they would be dark. 3. Score the panel after ink blending at 3/4 inc...
