Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival 2020 Ice Sculptures

I invite you on a short tour of the 2020 Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival Ice Sculptures. A few short details, or skip straight to the photos:) Lake Louise is in Banff National Park, here in Alberta, Canada.  The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise overlooks this beautiful lake in the majestic Canadian Rockies.  Late every January they host an international ice carving competition. 10 teams from Canada, Latvia, Russia, the Philippines, Japan, the U.K., Hong Kong and the United Stated participated this year. Each two person team has 40 hours, over 3 days, to make incredible ice sculptures out of 15 300 pound blocks of ice.  And this year the temperatures were at about -30 degrees Celsius.  Each sculpture is a minimum of 7 feet and no greater than 13.5 feet. There is also a "One Carver, One Hour, One Block" competition to enjoy! I posted my sleigh ride pictures from this same visit here:  Sleigh Ride at Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival 2020 1st Place Legend of...

Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival 2020 Sleigh Ride

The magic began even before we reached the ice sculptures at the 2020 Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival.  As we walked down the snow covered path beside Lake Louise two horse drawn sleighs passed us, each pulled by two black, beautiful horses.  The snow was gently falling (I did not photoshop the snow into the photos.).  It was truly magical!             Thank you for taking time out of your day to stop by and say hello.  If you enjoyed your visit, please click on the "subscribe" button above and follow me on my journey.   Betty

The Gift of Chickadees

We have lived on our acreage for over 11 years and last week when I was having an extremely rough day chickadees came and ate from our hands. God seems to send me birds in the rough times.  The nasty birds always scare these beautiful birds away.  This is the first time chickadees have stayed since we moved here.  Not only did these wild birds eat from our hands, while I was taking pictures of them at the bird feeder we quickly filled, they landed on my arms and head.  They have such a light delicate touch.  It was amazing!  They brought me courage beyond what I can express. I know that so many people have rough times in this world.  I hope that you find things that bring you courage!   I love that he looked in the window of the bird feeder that we had just refilled, and he cocked his head to the side as if to say "what's that, look at it all!" And then he kept eating.
