Gerda Steiner Go Wild and Party Animals Shadow Box Card

I can't tell you how much fun I am having pulling out stamp sets I have had for a while including Gerda Steiner's Go Wild and Party Animals stamps. Look at those adorable eyes on all those cute critters! I thought, "they need to all be loaded on one card for maximum cuteness impact" (it ended up to be most but not quite all of the images). Here is what I came up with.

In case you want to make a similar card here is what I did (instructions then photo to follow):
1. Cut 2 pieces of white 80 lb. cardstock 4 1/2 by 9 inches.
2. Score each at 1/2 and 4 inches on the 4 1/2 inch width.
3. Cut or die cut a 2 7/8 by 6 /12 inch window, 1 1/2 inches from the bottom of one panel.
4. Fold at the scored lines.
5. Cut light blue cardstock 4 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches.
6. Score at 1/2 and 4 inches on the 4 1/2 inch width.
7. Insert and adhere it into the back panel of the card at the top for the sky.
8. Cut medium green cardstock 3 3/4 by 5 1/4 inches and die cut or make a curved hillside at the top of the 5 1/4 edge.
9. Score at 1/8 and 3 5/8 inches on the 3 3/4 inch width.
10. Cut a lighter green cardstock 4 by 3 1/4 and die cut or make a curved hillside at the top of the 3 1/4 inch edge.
11. Score at 1/4 and 3 3/4 on the 4 inch width.
12. Cut 2 white pieces of cardstock, 3 1/2 by 2 1/4 inches and 3 1/2 by 1 3/4 inches for your clouds. And die cut a cloud border at the bottom of the 2 1/4 inch edge and the 1 3/4 inch edge.

13. Color and cut out your stamped images.
14. Die cut and color some small leafy foliage. I used Memory Box Fresh Foliage Die and Altenew Create-A-Wreath Dies.

15. Assemble your card and all your pieces without adhesive. Although it is not in the photo, I did include my foliage. Adjust the hillside pieces up and down until you find where you can see all your cute critters.
When I removed the top of the card you can see my hills didn't sit all the way down to the bottom of the card.
16. Mark the place where the green panels should sit so when you add adhesive you get them back into the spot you want them in.

17. Make sure to stamp your sentiment before you assemble the card permanently:)

 18. Add adhesive to all your pieces. I use an ATG tape gun.
19. Cover any exposed adhesive with scraps so your card doesn't stick together when you fold it.
20. Finish assembling your card using strong adhesive. I use Be Creative tape in the 1/8 and 1/4 inch widths.  Adhere one side of your panel, then lay it flat, then fold the other side onto the flattened pieces. This makes it so that it will line up properly when you want to bend and flatten the shadow box to either side and it will not be warped.

21. Add the front panel in the same way.
22. Add a small piece of scrap cardstock to the back bottom of the card that is scored and then bent to 90 degrees. This helps keep the card upright.
And your card is complete:)
And just for fun here is the "craftermath"...I truly was having fun!  Drawers and doors hanging open and 2 tables filled are evidence of fun times!
And here's a quick reminder of some fun card challenges to join:

    1. Gerda, super huge thanks!!! I had not seen anyone make a shadow box card for this shape, and it always helps me when I want to make this style of card again. And what I hope to do on my blog is share the things I am learning. If someone else can learn too, that will make me happy. Thank you for stopping and sharing your kindness with me!

Colored Cardstock versus Comic Markers with Altenew Rose Flurries 3D Die Set

I made 2 cards with the Altenew Rose Flurries 3D Die Set , one using colored cardstock and one using copic markers to color white cardstock. These cards are inspired by the Altenew November 2019 Inspiration Challenge. For my first card I pulled out all my miscellaneous colored cardstock that matched the inspiration challenge colors.  I was short a couple of colors so I blended some ink onto my darkest color to deepen the color for the last layer to die cut. I die cut all my layers, but this is where I ran into a few problems. I had mixed up wrong colors for some of the layers of the flowers.  (I was curious to try a different method so that prompted the second card.) Once I had re-die cut the missing layers I glued all my pieces together and glued them onto a cream color A2 sized card and stamped my sentiment which is from the Altenew Build a Flower Sakura Blossom  stamp set.     For my second card I use the layering guide provided by Altenew and organized all the

Watercolor Altenew Golden Garden

I could not resist making another card with the extra images I had stamped and embossed for my last card, from the Altenew Golden Garden stamp set! And for inspiration in design for today's card I used the February 2020 Altenew Inspiration Challenge and the Flower Challenge #41 "Add Leaves". I am joining these challenges with today's card. If you would like more on how I watercolor or arrange my florals, my last post was made with the same stamp set and the same general method.  I include a video on my watercoloring in my recent post. I used different colors and arranged the florals in a different pattern. You can find it here: Watercoloring Altenew's Golden Garden Stamp Set      Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day! Just Us Girls Challenge #521 - Word Week - Bow - Guest Designer

I am super thrilled to be a guest designer at  the Just Us Girls Challenge #521 where the word week theme is "bow".  To avoid having to tie a bow I had to pull out an old Whipper Snapper Designs stamp called Birthday Angel to find a bow (or 2). In saying that I may be telling me age, lol, given how old that stamp is.   Please make sure to check out all the wonderful cards the JUGS team made: Carol, Sue , Angie, Vickie, Ina, Bobby, Nancy, Lisa, Maria, and Cécile . And please drop by the Just Us Girls Challenge #521  and enter your "bow" card!   I look forward to being back at JUGS again next week!  As a teaser, my card will include watercoloring and an Altenew stamp set.    Thank you for stopping by!
