Watercolor Galaxy Background and Essentials by Ellen Space Out

Watercolor galaxy backgrounds have never been so fun, and pairing them with the Space Out by Brandi Kinkaid Essentials by Ellen stamp set is the best! I know, I will probably be saying this quite often for a while, but thank you Ellen for this fun set!  When she came to visit she brought me so many things to play with. Thank you!

Tips:

1.  Use whatever watercolor powder you have. I have Brusho, but I have seen Color Burst with Ken Oliver and if I had them I am sure I would have a lot of fun with them as well. Shimmerz is also on my wish list to try using this technique.
2. I find that the key to the outcome is using a fine mist spray bottle that doesn't put out too much water at once.  I use the Stampin' Spritzer.  I have found I douse my page with too much water using my Ranger Distress Sprayer.
3. Tape your watercolor paper to a firm surface on all sides because it will be bulging, because you use a lot of water.
4. Test the direction that the spray comes out of your water mister on your hand and direct the spray to the exact point you need it.
5. Start with a light layer of mist all over and then start tapping on small amounts of watercolor powder in a pattern that you think suites your background. Mist lightly as you go, so you can tell where you need to add powder.  Take your time and let the water break down the powder.  It is easy to over water your project.
5. You can either dry it with a heat gun or let it dry on it's own.  I like the wispiness it adds when you use a heat gun. And sometimes I use the heat gun to push some water off my paper.
6. If needed I add extra layers of Brusho after drying each layer.

Colored Cardstock versus Comic Markers with Altenew Rose Flurries 3D Die Set

I made 2 cards with the Altenew Rose Flurries 3D Die Set , one using colored cardstock and one using copic markers to color white cardstock. These cards are inspired by the Altenew November 2019 Inspiration Challenge. For my first card I pulled out all my miscellaneous colored cardstock that matched the inspiration challenge colors.  I was short a couple of colors so I blended some ink onto my darkest color to deepen the color for the last layer to die cut. I die cut all my layers, but this is where I ran into a few problems. I had mixed up wrong colors for some of the layers of the flowers.  (I was curious to try a different method so that prompted the second card.) Once I had re-die cut the missing layers I glued all my pieces together and glued them onto a cream color A2 sized card and stamped my sentiment which is from the Altenew Build a Flower Sakura Blossom  stamp set.     For my second card I use the layering guide provided by Altenew and organized all the

Just Us Girls Challenge #521 - Word Week - Bow - Guest Designer

I am super thrilled to be a guest designer at  the Just Us Girls Challenge #521 where the word week theme is "bow".  To avoid having to tie a bow I had to pull out an old Whipper Snapper Designs stamp called Birthday Angel to find a bow (or 2). Gerda Steiner Go Wild and Party Animals Shadow Box Card

I can't tell you how much fun I am having pulling out stamp sets I have had for a while including Gerda Steiner's Go Wild and Party Animals stamps. Look at those adorable eyes on all those cute critters! I thought, "they need to all be loaded on one card for maximum cuteness impact" (it ended up to be most but not quite all of the images). Here is what I came up with.   I am joining a few challenges with this card including: Gerda Steiner Share Your Design Challenge , Inkspirational Challenges , Just Us Girls Challenge , and The Male Room Challenge .  In case you want to make a similar card here is what I did (instructions then photo to follow): 1. Cut 2 pieces of white 80 lb. cardstock 4 1/2 by 9 inches. 2. Score each at 1/2 and 4 inches on the 4 1/2 inch width. 3. Cut or die cut a 2 7/8 by 6 /12 inch window, 1 1/2 inches from the bottom of one panel.  4. Fold at the scored lines. 5. Cut light blue cardstock 4 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches. 6. Score at 1/
